Maybe It’s In The Gene’s!!

So there’s this cute, funny thing that happens at our house when my little grandbaby comes. She likes to take toy cars and line them up in rows.

Does she play with dolls? Not so much.

The cutest and funnest thing about her lining up the cars is…that’s what her daddy used to do when he was four. She started this all on her own, while her daddy was at boot camp.  Maybe it’s in the genes?!  Now they do it together!

So. Cute.

What a sweet and fun girl. I love it so much when I get to see her. What a doll!!

He Has a Gift!

Riley has a gift with cars.

He can take a car that looks like this and make it run. A lot of people would take it to the junk yard.

But Riley sees the potential.

He actually sees value in this car.

We were gone one day and when we came home this was parked in the driveway. We laughed so hard, because there is no way we would buy a car that doesn’t run and looks like it should be in a junk yard.

But he got the car running and sold it.

He’s a funny, lovable guy, and I’m glad he’s my son.

Collecting Pins!

Years ago our family had an awesome opportunity.

We were able to go to, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D. C.

We had so much fun! It really was a once in a lifetime trip.

My in-laws were serving an LDS mission in Boston, so we were able to stay with them and we were able to stay with other relatives along the way. We packed as light as we could, and we were on a budget. So when we talked to the children about souvenirs, we told them we would have to be very careful in buying souvenirs.

#1 We had limited space to bring them home, and

#2 We had limited money to buy them.

One thing we did for the kids before the trip was, we bought each of them a baseball cap to wear while we traveled to protect them from the sun and to help us spot them easily.

I had a great idea come to me. We could buy pins at all of the places we visit and the kids could put them on their hats. Pins were never more then $4 at any of the places we went and that meant we could get all of our kids something at each of the places we visited. They came home with a hat full of souvenirs! I think this worked out well. It was fun to see the children’s hats have more and more pins as we traveled. The kids seemed to be really happy with their pins. We were able to travel to some amazing places, and historical places. The kids learned a lot about the is history of our great country. They had fun seeing things that they had only heard about before. Now, when they look at their pins, all of these memories will come back to them.

Chubby Plastic!

This very handsome young man is my son.

He has worn glasses since he was in 1st grade. I remember the first time we went to the eye doctor. After, we began the process of picking out glasses. We saw glasses that were plastic and looked pretty durable. I said, “Those look good.”

Riley said,

“I don’t want those! Those are chubby plastic!”

For many years, he wore glasses that resembled Harry Potter’s, wire rimmed and roundish lenses.

Then out of the clear blue, one day, he got new glasses. Guess what they looked like? Chubby plastic. They are cool now. Don’t they look nice? What a handsome dude!

I’m glad he changed his mind about “chubby plastic”.

First Born and his Fixie!

This is Riley, he’s my first born. Next to Riley is his Fixie! In case you wonder what a Fixie is, it’s a bike with a fixed-gear. It has no freewheel, which means it cannot coast. If the wheels are moving, so are the pedals. My son Riley has a Fixie, and loves to ride it. He rides it to work, (not my favorite thing) and home. It’s about ten miles one way. He is very amazing. Don’t you love to watch your kids as they become their own person. As they pick their favorite things to do and develop their talents. Riley is also amazing at working on cars. I am so proud of my first born.
