Sunday Best!

“A prominent judge was asked what we, as citizens of the countries of the world, could do to reduce crime and disobedience to law and to bring peace and contentment into our lives and into our nations. He thoughtfully replied, ‘I would suggest a return to the old-fashioned practice of family prayer.’” -Thomas S. Monson

Hope your Sunday was the Best! Love, Joy

Mike: Can I borrow your odorant?

Sulley: Yeah, I got, uh, Smelly Garbage or Old Dumpster.

Mike: You got, uh, Low Tide?

Sulley: No.

Mike: How about Wet Dog?

Sulley: Yep. Stink it up.

12/26/2021-Update: Isn’t it super fun when the creative minds at Pixar make a movie?  I like this exchange because of the way things are opposite for the Monsters. Wanting odorant, and a scent that is disgusting. I love it. We got a disgusting game this Christmas. It’s call Bean Boozled. The description says: a fun game for adventurous candy eaters. The company that makes it is Jelly Belly, jelly beans. There are two jelly beans that look almost identical, but one is an icky flavor and the other is a good flavor like: Juicy Pear or Booger, Strawberry Banana Smoothy or Dead Fish, Birthday Cake or Dirty Dishwater, Pomegranate or Old Bandage, etc. You spin the spinner, and eat the jelly bean it landed on. The Grandkids were having so much fun with this! We took the game up to our oldest grandkids, on our visit to see what they got for Christmas, and to offer them the game to keep. Adrian looked at me, then the game and said, “No way, you keep it!” Hahaha. They ended up keeping the game, but it was because their dad, our grown son, wanted it! Now, that’s funny!

Best Mother’s Day!

I’ve always struggled a little bit on Mother’s Day.

It’s a combination of feeling like I don’t cut it as a mom, and that my children don’t appreciate me. I know, that sounds pathetic. But I do have a desire to be a good mom, and no one likes it when they are constantly taking care of people, and they don’t get a “Thank you” on Mother’s Day.

When my children were young, I always got the token hand print and poem which I loved and still have, but now my children are grown up. I really don’t expect much. I hope for it, but I don’t expect it.

This year one of the biggest things that I was planning on for Mother’s Day was talking to my two children serving LDS missions. I have only talked to them on Christmas and Mother’s Day, and they have both been gone over a year. I miss them, but I know they are doing great things. I was able to talk to both of them on Sunday (Mother’s Day) morning. They both sounded so great and my button’s were bustin’, I am so proud. They will both be home in 2-4 months. So wonderful!!

Next, for the first time in my motherhood, my children here at home and my son’s girlfriend were all competing to see who could write the best Mother’s Day card. How fun! It was so perfect. Riley, wrote a nice note about how he has learned the lesson’s I tried to teach him, he just has to push my button’s. Janet wrote about how I have made her feel loved and she loves me. And Emily wrote a nice card and filled it with coupons, one of which has already happened. It said, “Coupon for 4 amazing kids, 1 amazing husband and one darling grandbaby, and Janny :).” Then she put “paid” all over it. So cute! Then she heart attacked the sliding glass door. Here’s a picture of it.

My favorite part was this note that said,

“If you would like to take credit for a part of this magnificent gift. please sign below…”

What a cute daughter! It was a wonderful day and loved it!

I think the key is to not expect anything, then you will be surprised and amazed when something does happen.

I hope all mother’s and those who mother, had a great Mother’s Day.

I am so grateful for my Mama! She is a women that get’s life, what where here for and how to do it. She is busy, using her time serving others and Heavenly Father. She is smart and understands people. She has taught me so much. Thank you, Mama!

Dear family,
How is everyone? It is always bittersweet talking to all of you, because it always goes way too fast. That 40 minutes flew by. I was thinking about it, and the next time I talk to all of you, it will be face to face! Ahhh! Weird! But anyways, it was good all the same. I’m glad you are all surviving this crazy world we live in and making the best of it.
Mom: Ha ha. I also got a flower at church, even though I’m not a mommy. They had extras so they gave to all the “future mothers”. It was sweet. I really like this ward a lot. I still don’t really know very many of them, but I feel like they are all excellent people. Anyway, I feel like I told you most of the stuff I was going to talk about yesterday, but I will write more to you next week for sure. 🙂
Dad: Awww! I miss the little chidlets! I feel a little sad that they are growing up without me. 🙁 But it’s okay I guess. It happens. I miss seeing everone at family parties. It was good times.
Emmysaurus Rex: That’s awesome you got your young womens medallion. I remember when I got mine. It was fun. So since you are graduating next Tuesday, I can expect a letter sometime next Friday? Because you’ll be less busy? 😉 Okay deal! 🙂 Ha ha. Anyway, I think that is all for now. I love you all a lot! Be good.
Love, Kelsey

Wonderful People Who Bless My Life!

Do you have wonderful people in your life?

I do!

The most wonderful people bless my life.

Sometimes, they’re the ones that I don’t see everyday, just once in a while, or the one’s who I don’t think about too often. They’re the one’s that are all around me, as I go throughout my days.

They are the people whose example and life inspire and motivate me to be a better person than I would be, if I didn’t know them. They are sometimes the people I take for granted. My family, friends, and neighbors, and even those who I consider acquaintances.

When I see them and I realize it’s been a while, I feel so glad to see them, and so blessed to have them in my life.

I feel so grateful for them.

I know they love me, and I love them. Even though we don’t see each other all the time, and we get busy in our lives, I know they’re there, loving me.

And I know, they know, I’m here loving them.

I love you wonderful people who bless my life!

Dearest family,
How are you all doing? I am doing okay. We got transfer calls today, and I am getting transferred to a new area. 🙁 I am very sad to leave this area. I love this place!
Anyways, other than that things are good here. We had a wedding on Saturday for two of our investigators. It was awesome! She has wanted to get married for a really long time, but he never would do it. But finally it happened and they are both getting baptized this Saturday (I’m going to miss it 🙁 ). We also have another investigator getting baptized as well. His mom and his brother got baptized together like 2 months ago, but now he is finally ready. All kinds of good things are happening here! And I’m missing a lot of them. But I guess I am needed in another place.
Mami: I am very sad to hear about Herman. Give Vickie and Megan and Colin and Jase lots of love from me. I wish I could be there, but I know that wouldn’t really help anything. I also am thankful for the gospel and the knowledge that we have of what comes after this life. Death would be such a scary thing if we didn’t know what was going to happen to our loved ones, or ourselves, when this life is over. Herman is no doubt running around like there’s no tomorrow, and preaching the good word as a missionary. He and Colin will be doing the same thing pretty soon.
In other news, Sister W. is going home this Thursday, and she lives in R. So I am not sure when, but at some point, she is going to be stopping by y’all for a visit. I hope that is cool. She’ll probably share some photos and stories of the transfer that we served together. She is so awesome! I just wanted to let you know that may happen. 🙂
Papi: Ha ha. Why is it that when we cry we do things to cry more? I think everyone has done it at one point or another, but it’s so irrational. Man, I haven’t cried in a while, but I cried today reading this email. Good luck with your tree cutting. That should be fun. 🙂 Ha ha. I miss Mom’s potato salad. We ate something that was kind of like potato salad, but it was nowhere near as good as Mom’s. Her’s is still the best. 😉
Emmy: Hey, I’m glad things are good. Are you still going to send me a graduation picture?! I hope so. Sister V. was looking at a picture of her sisters the other day, and she didn’t even recognize them. I feel like I might be the same way. I don’t know what anyone looks like anymore. Well except Natasha, because mom sent me a picture of her.
Okay, so I found this dog that is the sweetest thing ever. She is a little black chihuahua mix, and she has the sweetest little face. You should try to convince mom and dad to buy a dog like her. 😉 🙂 Ha ha. Jk jk. But really she is adorable. I’m sending a picture of her.
Well, sorry this is really short, but I will be talking to all of you in less than a week!!! Wooo! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!
Love, Kelsey

Family History Friday: “Year in Review!”

Photo from Burst of Creativity

I’ve said before that

“Family History is also Family Present.”

I say that, because what we record now, will someday be the Family History of our descendants. Oh, how we wish our ancestors had kept better records, and how grateful we are when they have.

I came across a really fun and easy idea for recording “A Year in Review.”

Melissa over at Bursts of Creativity does a mini scrapbook, recording the events of the year. If you did this as the year is happening, it would be all done at years end. Melissa describes it like this: “This is a year in review MINI – it doesn’t have to be huge and it doesn’t have to take a ton of time to make.”

I absolutely love this idea!! To see what she does, and get ideas, go here!

Thanks Melissa for your wonderful idea!
