Snow Caves!

I mentioned a few posts ago that my darlin is a scout leader.

The scouts had their Klondike Derby last night.

Plans for the night started about two and a half weeks ago. On Tuesday the 8th the scouts and leaders traveled to where they will camp. They spent about two hours piling snow, making large mounds.

A week later on the 15th they went back up and dug out the caves. Then last night, the 18th they slept in them overnight.

They look like they’re having fun!

This wonderful man is my darlin, he has a heart of gold.

“A man filled with the love of God is not content with blessing his family alone, but ranges through the whole world, anxious to bless the whole human race.” -Joseph Smith

That’s how I feel about my darlin. He is always willing to bless others with his time, talents, and love. Thankfully, he loves to sleep in snow caves!

A Volunteer!

Sometime in the spring we noticed this cute little

pine tree

living in the yard. The only problem is the spot this little tree decided to grow was right in the middle of a walk way.

What a cute little tree.

We moved it, and it is doing very well! What a great little volunteer.

Baby Bird!

Don’t you just love spring?

One of my favorite things in spring is all of the babies. We recently had a baby Robin in our back yard. We don’t know if it fell out of, or tried to fly out of the nest.

Every time hubby would go out to check on it, the parents would start chirping and flying past him like they were trying to take his attention away from where the baby was. What they did do, was tell him he was close. Kinda like that game where you hide something while someone is out of the room, and when they come back in everyone sings or hums louder the closer you get to object.

We felt like we needed to keep an eye on it, because it was too small to be seen very easily, and we didn’t want the daycare kids to step on it. So my darlin watched and checked for a few days, making sure the baby was o.k. Finally, the birds stopped chirping and swooping past him. We both decided that the baby was safe and either flew away or had hopped to a spot in the yard that was safe.

Here’s mama watching close from above. I love spring, and babies!

One word “Pinterest”.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of it by now.

All I have to say is, “Wow!”

It is amazing.

First of all, you have to be invited to join.

Once you’ve been invited, it’s over, your life will never be the same. I try to avoid going there, because if I do, I am stuck there for days (of and on, of course), but it is so fun, addicting, entertaining, funny, helpful, educational, and beautiful.

Try it! I must warn you, enter at your own risk.

You can find it by going here.

My Favorite Planner!!

I have used many planners throughout my life.

I would be lost without a planner.

I have used a planner for as long as I can remember. I like to be able to look at at least a week at a time, so my cell phone doesn’t work for me. I did have a “Palm” at one time, but there again, I couldn’t see the details of the whole week or month at the same time. I did play a lot of “Bejeweled” though. The other problem I had with some of my planner‘s was the size. I like seeing the whole month or week, which makes them sometimes a little big.

This was fine, unless I wanted to go somewhere.

I would need a large bag or purse. Well, I don’t really care for large purses, and had a tendency to leave my planner home, which defeats the purpose of having one. I would run into someone I know and try to make a plan, and nope, I’d say, “Let me call you when I get home!” So after much time and many planners, I discovered the best planner for me! Here it is: My Moleskine Planner!

My planner is 3 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, and not quite 1/2″ thick. It fit’s nicely in my purse and I have a small purse. It is always with me! Did you see the little colored dots on the left of the weekly schedule? I have all of my daycare kids color coded. On the day each child is coming, I put a dot. That way, I’m not using a ton of space to keep track of what I’m doing that day. I love it! The planner also has a ribbon bookmark, and an elastic to hold it closed when not in use. I am so glad I found my Moleskine planner!

A Fond Memory

When I was growing up I loved watching the musical

“Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”

It is such a cute show!!!

I think the reason I liked it so much is because I grew up with 5 brothers, and no sisters. I could relate to Milly trying to live with a bunch of men. She spent lots of time trying to teach these backwoodsmen how to be gentlemen. Of course it doesn’t work in the beginning, but it is so fun to see her sweet personality working with them.

Growing up with my 5 brothers was sometimes scary. They were so competitive. They used to scare me half to death when they would wrestle with each other. It would start out as a friendly wrestling match and then get serious, each trying to prove they were stronger than the other.

If you ever get the chance watch it! It is a classic!

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is one of my all time favorites and a very fond memory.
